Editorial Policy

RedX Apps publishes construction guides, reference tables, and calculators used by builders, contractors, and DIYers to plan real structures. Because people cut real lumber based on these numbers, our editorial standard is simple: every number must be computable, every claim must be checkable, and every page must say when it was last updated.

How our numbers are produced

The formulas in our guides are the same formulas implemented in the RedX calculators. Tables on programmatic pages (roof pitch pages, span tables, rafter length tables) are computed from geometry at build time, not typed by hand - if the math changed, every page would update together.

Code references

Where guides reference building codes, we cite the International Residential Code (IRC) provision and note that local amendments vary. Code citations are informational: always verify requirements with your local building department before you build. When code editions change, we update the affected pages and the page's updated date.

Authorship and review

Every guide carries a byline. Pages reviewed by a named practitioner show the reviewer and their credentials; we never attribute reviews that did not happen, and we do not use fabricated author personas.

Corrections

If you find an error in any formula, table, or guide, contact us via the contact page. Verified corrections are applied to the page and to the calculators, and the page's updated date is refreshed.

What our pages are for

Our guides support planning and estimation. They are not a substitute for engineering: load-bearing designs, unusual spans, and anything a code official flags should be reviewed by a licensed structural engineer.
