How to Add Interior Walls

Updated April 1, 2026

RedX Walls lets you draw interior walls on any floor of your structure, with full control over material size, top plate interlocking, and corner priority.

Preparation

  1. Open Manage Layers and hide the roof if needed for a clearer view.
  2. Use the Level Selector to choose which floor to work on (e.g. Level 1).
  3. Switch to top-down view for easier drawing.

Drawing Interior Walls

  1. Open the House Tools and select Draw Interior Walls.
  2. Choose your material size (2x4, 2x6, etc.).
  3. Tap anywhere on the floor to start drawing the layout.
  4. Measurements populate automatically — tap any measurement to set a custom room size (e.g. 8 feet).
  5. You can switch material sizes mid-draw (e.g. start with 2x4, switch to 2x6).
  6. Tap Done when finished.

In 3D view, all top plates, backings, and interlocking are generated automatically.

Top Plate Settings

To customize top plate behavior, go to House Tools → Wall Settings for the level:

  • Upper top plate — toggle on or off.
  • Interlock exterior top plates — locks in perimeter wall top plates.
  • Interlock interior top plates — set to "No" for flush interior top plates instead of interlocked.

Editing Corners

To give an interior wall priority to run past another wall at a corner:

  1. Open House Tools → Edit Corners.
  2. Select the corner you want to change.
  3. Choose which wall has priority, or set both walls to meet at a 45-degree angle.
